Our Chief Ruairidh has advised that there is to be a World Gathering of our Clan MacLennan on 24 July, 2009, in Edinburgh. He has suggested we be accommodated at the "Express by Holiday Inn (City Centre)" or very close by. Bookings for the Express by Holiday Inn are to be made through the Cashel Travel website (www.casheltravel.com); enquiries to their Mrs.Katie Evans, Incentive & Events Manager, Cashel Travel, Palmerston Place, Edinburgh EH12 5AL (Phone: +44 131 514 4107 or katie@casheltravel.com).

The 'skeleton' program is :
- Arrive Thursday 23 July, register for Gathering and meet for informal evening meal at Express by Holiday Inn (EbHI).
- Friday 24 July, afternoon meeting at EbHI, followed by a whisky tour/tasting/ Dinner & Ceilidh at Castle Hill Room of The Scotch Whisky Experience situated at the top of the Royal Mile.
- Saturday/Sunday 25/26 July, International 'Gathering 2009' at Holyrood Palace & Edinburgh Castle.

The planned Gathering of our Clan will precede the International Gathering in Edinburgh on 25/26 July, 2009 - please go to their website on either www.thegathering2009.com or www.clangathering.org for more information about this event.

You can also register your interest to receive an email of their monthly Newsletter update. In the January 2008 Newsletter they announced the following about Tickets:

"To attend the major events of The Gathering 2009 you will need to get hold of a ''Passport''. This includes entry to both days of Highland Games at Holyrood Palace, a place in the Clan Parade and a seat at the Clan Pageant on the castle esplanade. Passports will go on sale via our website at the end of March but a pre-booking form will go online on February 26th. We would encourage anyone who is keen to book their tickets prior to the general release that they fill in the form and post it back to us with payment details. This form is particularly aimed at large groups looking for tickets as you will only be able to buy 6 online.".

Elsewhere on the website they give prices for the three levels of 'Passports'.

There will be a MacLennan Clan tent at this event for Clansfolk to meet during the weekend.
