History |
We have chosen a single location, GenCircles, where you can load your ancestors - free! Contributing your data not only helps you find your ancestors, but helps thousands of other MacLennan descendants as well. GenCircles keeps information about living relatives confidential. Of great benefit to you, every few hours, GenCircles will run "SmartMatch" to see if it can find any of of your ancestors on other GenCircles users' family trees. This is a real benefit for you in loading your ancestors to GenCircles. GenCircles accepts genealogical data in the generic "GEDCOM" format. You can email your GEDCOM file to me at maclizard@rogers.com or click here to upload your ancestors yourself. You will be asked to register when you first go to the GenCircles site. To help you collect profiles of each of your ancestors, visit our Beginners Guide to tracing your MacLennan ancestors and our Resources Page. If you already have your family data in the commercial program Family Tree Maker, you can save all your data in one file - Click here to find out how. Once saved, you can send it to me by email or upload it yourself to GenCircles. You can also create a GEDCOM file for uploading to GenCircles with most other genealogy programs. Refer to our Beginner's Guide for some comments on alternative programs. If you have any questions about how to load your ancestors to our Clan database, please contact me at the email address below. I am working with various clan sources to load data held in other forms to the GenCircles database. David MacLennan |
